19/11/2012

The 8th annual international Science & Friendship meeting was held over the week of November 5, 2012 at the Fundación Ciencia y Vida. Fifteen students and three professors (Lewis Lanier, Wallace Marshall and Geeta Narlikar) from the University of California, San Francisco as well as students and professors from Universidad Andrés Bello, Universidad de Chile and Pontificia Universidad Católica participated. The scientific talks and poster sessions, held on Monday November 5th and Tuesday November 6th, covered diverse topics from epigenetics to the organization of organelles with the cell to new discoveries in immunology.

The activities continued on Wednesday November 7th with a trip to Valparaíso where the visitors from UCSF and their Chilean counterparts toured the city. The meeting finished with a barbecue at Pablo Valenzuela and Bernardita Mendez’s house. These social activities allowed time for Chilean and US scientists to share and exchange ideas and information.
