Research clusters

Viruses, microbes, and infection

Despite the cumulative knowledge related to the mechanistic aspects of viral infection and the establishment and dynamics of microbiomes, fundamental questions about virus/microbe-host biology remain to be solved. This cluster is focused on dissecting the interactions between virus/microbe-host to provide fundamental knowledge on the structural, molecular, and genetic basis of infection and colonization, setting the foundations for preventive intervention and therapeutic countermeasures in several viral infections and perturbations of microbiota.
