“La Fuerza del Mar” TV series, a production of the Eureka Program, wins an important prize at the International Science Film Festival in Athens, Greece

“La Fuerza del Mar” was awarded with the Special Jury Prize at the 9th International Science Film Festival, which took place from August 31th until September 7th, 2015 in Athens, Greece. Competing with world’s big producers of scientific documentaries such as NOVA, BBC, NHK and Terra Mater, this achievement means a significant international recognition by a prestigious and qualified jury. The award ceremony was on October 25th at the Cervantes Institute in Athens.

“La Fuerza del Mar” reveals the special features of each one of the wonderful seas of Chile, generating awareness of the need to protect their oceanographic processes and biodiversity. “It is a great honor to receive this recognition. This series is an international gateway to our natural marine wealth and the amazing scientific work being developed in our country”, said Julian Rosenblatt, director of the series.

This documentary series is a coproduction of the Eureka Program from Fundación Ciencia & Vida, the Department of Cultural and Educational Programming of the National Television Council, the Millennium Institute of Oceanography, and Imago and GVG Producciones. The series also had the support of marine biologist and National Science Award winner Dr. Juan Carlos Castilla as scientific editor.
