The Chancellor of UCSF visited Fundación

Dr. Susan Desmond-Hellmann, the Chancellor of the University of California, San Francisco visited the Fundación in the context of a collaboration program between UCSF, Fundación Ciencia para la Vida and Fundación EcoScience. One of the highlights of her visit was a public conference entitled “Health Sciences Innovation in the 21st Century”. Indeed, the Minister of Economic Affairs of Chile also invited to the conference and was among the attendees. After her talk a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between UCSF, Fundación Ciencia para la Vida and Fundación EcoScience in order to formally recognize the collaborations that have taken place between Ciencia para la Vida, EcoScience and UCSF over the last few years.

Susan Desmond-Hellmann, is an MD, MPH. She served as president of product development at Genentech from 2004 to 2009. In this role, she was responsible for Genentech’s development, process research and development, business development, product portfolio management, alliance management, and pipeline planning support functions. She is currently the Chancellor of the University of California, San Francisco and was appointed to the position on August 2009.
