Mario Rosemblatt, PhD


Biography

He obtained his degree in Biochemistry from University of Chile and his Ph.D. from Wayne Staten University (USA). He has held numerous positions abroad, among which he stands out as Research Fellow in Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Research Associate of the Association pour le Research Contre le Cancer, Paris, France, and Former Adjunct Professor at Dartmouth Medical School. 

He served as Director of the Department of Biology at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Chile, and was Co-Founder and first Director of the college career in Molecular Biotechnology at that University. Former coordinator of the Biology Section of FONDECYT; Former President of the Chilean Society of Immunology, the Chilean Society of Cellular Biology, and a founding member of Fundación Ciencia & Vida.

Author of more than 100 Publications and 10 patents he is a member of the Chilean Academy of Sciences and recipient of important awards in recognition of his academic career such as the “2008 Recognition of Academic Excellence” Award from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Chile; the “Merit Award” from the Universidad Andrés Bello and the “Basic Science Mentor Award” from the Transplantation Society of the United States.

Presently he is Professor at the Universidad de Chile and Universidad San Sebastián, Executive Director of Fundación Ciencia & Vida and Director of the Ph.D. Program in Immunology and Microbiology at Universidad San Sebastian.
