Vincenzo Borgna MD PhD
Biography
Dr. Borgna obtained his Medical degree (MD) from Universidad Andrés Bello in 2009. He did his doctoral thesis in the laboratory of Dr. Luis Burzio on Fundación Ciencia & Vida, working on non-coding RNA in kidney cancer, obtaining a PhD in Biotechnology in 2014. His doctoral thesis was awarded as the best thesis of the year at the Andrés Bello University. Dr. Borgna enters the specialization in Urological Surgery graduating in 2019 at the University of Santiago and later completes a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery with Dr. Octavio Castillo.
Dr. Borgna has worked on the development of therapies against genitourinary cancer, developing xenographic and syngeneic models subcutaneously and orthotopically. He has participated as a co-investigator in FONDEF Projects and in 2019 he was awarded a Fondecyt Inicio grant as principal investigator. He currently works as Head of the Uro-Oncology Unit at Hospital Barros Luco in Santiago.
Dr. Borgna has dedicated the last few years to the study of intratumoral lymphocytes in human kidney cancer and to the development of autologous immunotherapies in cancer.
