Raquel Quatrini, PhD
Dr. Raquel Quatrini is a molecular microbial ecologist seeking to understand the structure, function and dynamics of the microbial consortia present in extreme acidic econiches, including those driving the bioleaching of copper.
Raquel was born and raised in Argentina where she completed her bachelor degree in Biological Sciences (1992–1996, Universidad del Comahue). After graduation, she moved to Chile to obtain her Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Chile (1999-2003). Between 2004 and 2005 she did her postdoctoral training in functional genomics with Dr. Violaine Bonnefoy at the C.N.R.S. (Marseille, France) and Dr. David S. Holmes at the Center for Bioinformatics.
Since 2007 she is head of the Microbial Ecophysiology Lab. at FCV. In 2019 I was appointed Associate Professor at Universidad San Sebastián.
