October 20, 2016
The Chilean production company IMAGO Producciones, in partnership with Fundación Ciencia & Vida, was awarded the Highest Special Tribute during the VerCiência 2016 event, an internationally acclaimed Brazilian exhibition that promotes and encourages scientific culture through television, internet and other audiovisual media.
Pablo Rosenblatt, a renowned science communicator and Director of the Eureka Program at Fundación Ciencia & Vida, together with his son Julian, Director and Producer at IMAGO Producciones, directed the local group of professionals in charge of producing the scientific audiovisual material and documentaries object of this award.
Pablo and Julian received the award at the Opening Session of the Exhibition on October 17th, at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (CCBB). “I want to thank and share this recognition with all my friends at Fundación. Your invaluable support over the years has been essential in our efforts towards this important prize”, expressed Pablo to Fundación’s Executive Team.
At the award ceremony Pablo delivered the keynote lecture with the suggestive title “La Impaciencia de la Ciencia” (“The Impatience of Science”). Based on the conclusions of a recent survey carried out by CONICYT concerning Chileans’ perception of science, Pablo discussed the role of science communication as a mean to raise the standards of public awareness and understanding of science. The lecture included a showing of short clips of some of the main TV programs produced by IMAGO.
