On September 22, the Executive Director of Fundación Ciencia & Vida, Dr. Mario Rosemblatt was invited by the Minister of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation, Andrés Couve, to participate -on behalf of the Scientific Advisory Committee for COVID-19 Vaccines- in the announcement made by President Piñera on the progress in obtaining vaccines against SARS-Cov 2.

An outstanding recognition was made by the Minister of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation, Andrés Couve, to the 2nd Season of the series “Experimenta, Ciencia de Niñ@s”, for its outstanding contribution in bringing Science to children. On September 8, the series obtained the Second place in the category TV Web Series, in the 9th version of the “Ojo de Pescado Festival”, with its episode “Eclipse Total de Sol”. In addition, it was nominated in prestigious international festivals, being one of them the “Festival de Cine Calibélula” (Colombia), 2020.

On September 4, the fifth season of “Exploradores, del Átomo al Cosmos”, the series that tells Chileans about the work of country’s Centers of Excellence, was released on  the screens of the national TV channel “24 horas”. With more innovation, first-line science and contingency, the Series established itself as the most watched program on Chilean television dedicated to science. The Head of the Immuno-oncology Lab of Fundación Ciencia & Vida, Dr. Alvaro Lladser, was invited to give a talk in the launch of the Human Cell Atlas (HCA) Latin America Network  which was carried out through a virtual workshop during September 24 and 25. The meeting was organized by the University of Sao Paulo, Brasil, and supported by the Chan Zuckerberg initiative. The talk was titled: “Unveiling the role of resident-memory T cells in human solid cancers” and was framed in the session of “Single Cell-Research in Latin America”. The Workshop had more than 350 attendants from 21 countries.

The scientific director of Fundación Ciencia & Vida, Dr. Pablo Valenzuela, along with the business director, Cristián Hernández-Cuevas, participated in the final episode of the podcast “Business of Biotech”, analyzing the revolution of informatic power in biopharma and how the influence of emerging technologies in biopharmaceutics are boosting the growth of biotech in South America.

Innate leader, entrepreneur and of great generosity, the Director of International Relations of Fundación Ciencia & Vida, Sebastián Bernales, and founder of the companies Praxis, in USA, and Merken Biotech, in Chile, obtained the Avonni Award for innovative career Anacleto Angeline 2020, as a recognition for his ability to innovate in the Biotech Area. The Avonni award is the most important honorary recognition in Chile, which makes visible those successful cases of innovation in different categories. Congratulations!
