This book seeks to go into and explore the deepest and most inhospitable habitat of Chilean deep ocean: La Fosa de Atacama. Travesía al Inframundo is inspired in the exploration carried out in 2018 by a group of Chilean scientists to the Atacama Trench, one of the deepest in the world and the Pacific Ocean, with up to 8 kilometers deep and from which the successful documentary Atacamex was born: Exploring the Unknown, co-produced by Fundacion Ciencia & Vida and the Millennium Institute of Oceanography.
