International Seminar: “Tinkering with translation — the post-transcriptional tRNA modification toolbox”

27/09/2018

Dr. Sarin is an Academy of Finland Research Fellow and independent group leader at the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences, University of Helsinki. His research focuses on discerning the interplay between post-transcriptional transfer RNA (tRNA) modification and translation. This is of significant interest as tRNA modifications modulate translation upon physiological stress, thereby constituting a possible toolbox for translational fine-tuning or reprogramming in bioproduction systems. In addition to studying translational control during infection, Dr. Sarin is interested in exploring novel approaches by which tRNAs, tRNA modifications, and their modifying enzymes can be adjusted and controlled for efficient expression of proteins of interest.
