
Dr. Peter Friedland and Dr. Michael Martínez, researchers at the US Air Force Office of Scientific Research, visited Fundación Ciencia & Vida
10/01/2017Peter Friedland is an independent technology strategist and consultant acting as scientific advisor to the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR). Dr. Friedland is a Fellow of the American Association of Artificial Intelligence, and a recipient of the NASA Outstanding Leadership Medal and the Feigenbaum Intermational Medal for Expert Systems Applications. His career has focused on interdisciplinary technology research, development, and application with substantial accomplishments in academia, industry, and government. His specific areas of emphasis for AFOSR are strategy and tactics for international research investments in all disciplines, and creation of new programs in computer and cognitive science.
In a Special Seminar held on Friday, January 6th, he and his collaborator Dr. Michael Martínez presented some details about AFOSR international organization and grant submission protocols to investigators and students at Fundación Ciencia & Vida.
On this occasion, we also received the visit of Robert Erbacher, ARO Program Manager and Associate Director for the Science & Technology US Army RDECOM-Americas in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
This visit aimed at becoming acquainted with the work carried out at Fundación and reviewing the progress of our project funded by AFOSR. In this project, we explore the influence of social and digital information on human behavior through mathematical and computational models of our own authorship.
