22/07/2016Sebastián Bernales, head of the Translational Research Lab at Fundación Ciencia & Vida, participated, together with several other Chileans with outstanding national and international biotechnology projects, in the first meeting of ChileGlobal Biotec in San Francisco, California.
ChileGlobal Biotec is an initiative that involves the making of a network of Chilean professionals and entrepreneurs linked to the development of biotechnology in the United States whose aim is to encourage the integration of new ideas, channeling knowledge, contacts and experiences for projects materialized abroad.
In an interview for ChileGlobal, Dr. Bernales highlighted the role that Chileans outside the country can play for the growth of Chilean biotechnology. Indeed, he considers that initiatives like ChileGlobal Biotec are the kind of programs Chile requires: “I think this is a community that needs to have freedom and connection so that ideas and projects arise. And hopefully we will get the resources to make these things happen”.
After working for nine years in Medivation Inc., a major American Biotech company where he became Vice President of Discovery Biology, Dr. Bernales dared to create his own biotechnology company, with which he wants to support the development of projects in the United States and Latin America, especially in Chile.
Dr. Sebastián Bernales, head of the Translational Research Lab at Fundación Ciencia & Vida, is now creating his own biotechnology company.
