
Young Investigator of FCV receives an award from the American Society for Virology
14/04/2009The laboratory of Hantavirus directed by Fundación´s Researcher Dr. Nicole Tischler will have a special participation in the 28th Annual Meeting of the America Society for Virology, which is to be held at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada, July 11-15.
The principal investigator of the work entitled “Fusion activity of the hantavirus Gc protein” has been awarded a travel grant for Latin American Scholars worth $2,500 U.S dollars. The work has been accepted for an oral presentation in a Symposium on “Viral Cell Entry” together with several international experts.
The researchers and institutions involved in this project are: Nicole Tischler from FCV, MIFAB and Universidad San Sebastián, Gonzalo Barriga, Simón Vidal, Ignacio Muñoz-León, Pablo D. Valenzuela, Nicolás Cifuentes from FCV, MIFAB and Universidad Andrés Bello.
The American Society for Virology (ASV) was founded in 1981 to provide a forum for investigators of human, animal, insect, plant, fungal and bacterial viruses, whether the research involves the use of clinical, ecological, biological or biochemical approaches. The Society sponsors an annual meeting, designed to promote discussion and collaboration among scientists active in all aspects of virology.
