
Executive Director of Fundación is honoured with a renowned award
2/12/2008Last Wednesday, November 26, Dr. Mario Rosemblatt was awarded the Premio al Mérito Universidad Andrés Bello 2008. The award was given by Universidad Andrés Bello, based on his countless contributions to the expansion and improvement of the scientific research and education in Chile. He has been described as an active facilitator of the implementation of a number of government initiatives that aim to foster science and technology development in Chile.
At the ceremony, held at the Campus Casona de Las Condes, Universidad Andres Bello, Rosemblatt, an expert immunologist and fellow scientist at the Faculty of Medicine at Harvard University, noted that “this award marks a milestone in my career. With my work I want to contribute to the Chilean science and train the students that give me the energy to move forward and pursue further investigations”.
Mario Rosemblatt is a Biochemist of Universidad de Chile, PhD in biochemistry from the University of Wayne State (Michigan, USA) and a Fellow of the Millennium Institute of Fundamental and Applied Biology (MIFAB). At present, his research has been focused on developing new vaccines and improving new organ transplant-rejection technologies.
