Head of Conicyt’s Scientific and Technological Centers of Excellence visited Fundación

26/08/2008

Last Friday August 22, Mrs Jani Brouwer and her team from Conicyt’s Scientific and Technological Centers of Excellence (STCE) program visited Fundación Ciencia para la Vida (FCV) in order to learn, in first hand, about the activities being carried out at FCV. The Conicyt officials met with a group of Senior Researchers and Dr. Pablo Valenzuela, President of Fundación Ciencia para la Vida, gave them a detailed tour around the premises.

The STCE responds to the government’s commitment to foster the country’s scientific and technological research and leverage and strengthen Scientific and Technological Centers of Excellence that pursue research, human capital training and technology transfer as a way to boost the economy’s competitiveness and the development of Chilean society.

According to Pablo Valenzuela, this funding is a fundamental step in the development of new projects because it “provides very important economic stability that we did not have before.  We will now be able to reinforce a series of new projects and look into riskier areas that can be very relevant from a technological perspective, such as new salmon vaccine projects”.
